Residents of Dubai will soon be able to call the streets themselves

The Dubai Committee on the name of the roads of Dubai promises to make changes to the street name system so that residents can offer their names for some areas. At the moment, specific streets that will be renamed are not yet announced, but it is known that the new names will correspond to the new methodology that the Committee will implement.

The essence of the new methodology is that the names of the streets will reflect the identity and cultural heritage of the emirate. This change is aimed at simplifying navigation for residents and visitors. In addition, another innovative element will be introduced: the key attribute of the name of the street will be depicted on road signs. This will make it easier to determine the location and improve general clarity.

An example of the introduction of a new standard was already served by the Al Khawaneej 2 area, where the streets were named after plants, which reflects the rich botanical heritage of the emirate. For example, Al Ghaf Street is named after the GAF tree, and Al Sidr Street is named after the evergreen shrub of the Zizifus clan (or the sidr tree). On road signs, in addition to the names of streets in Arabic and English, the corresponding plants are depicted, which makes navigation even more intuitive.

Currently, the addresses in the neighboring area of ​​Al Khawaneej 1 are simply numbered and consist of streets and the words "Street", for example, 45 ST, 162 ST and so on. In general, the address of addresses in Dubai is quite complicated, and for accurate navigation you need to know the area or name of the building that can be entered into cards or taxi applications. However, there is a Makani system that provides ten -digit digital unique codes for each entrance to the building on the map. These numbers can be found on the signs in front of the entrances and used for ordering a taxi or in emergency situations.

The introduction of a new methodology for the name of streets in Dubai will not only make navigation more convenient, but also emphasize the rich cultural and natural heritage of this unique emirate.
